The phrase book contains 1200 sentences classified into 26 thematic domains such as Self, Health, Travel, Needs etc. Users can access the desired phrase in the target language using two different search functions. If he/she selects a domain, all sentences of the source and target languages are displayed. The user can also search by any word in their source language to find equivalent expressions in the target language if available. The users can use the Unicode keying in their language or use the keyboard given.
The relevant phrase (sentence or expression) is accompanied by one or more phrases for the ardent learner. However the additional phrases do not have audio support. You may have to use external resources for audio of the additional sentences, wherever available.
We have tried to make the program ‘rich’ by adding many features – the sentences are gender-sensitive, the other expression is not a translation, but an equivalent expression of the language, and the lexical equivalents have been contextually defined.
The program can be used all learners, mother tongue speakers who do not know the script, and linguists interested in getting data.
