Name of the course: Spoken Tamil Online - Pilot Programme
Duration of the Programme: 20 hours
Medium of the course: The language of interaction will be English and/or Hindi depending on the group of registrants.
Participants: The course can admit only a maximum of eight learners, on a first come first served basis. There is no entry qualification; however yen for language is desirable and regular attendance, timely submission of assignments will be insisted upon.
Starting from: 25th July 2015
Schedule (Tentative) Four hours a week for five weeks
Course Content: The teaching will be primarily be spoken. As a back-up the handout of the lessons will be sent by e-mail. There may be other content on YouTube and our own website.
Fees: As it is a Pilot programme, the learners will not have to pay any course fee. Subsequent courses in Tamil or other languages will attract a course fee.
Course details
1. The course introduces the learner to the most useful and basic structures of Tamil commonly used for day to day conversation.
2. The course will be based on normal standard colloquial speech which is different from the written style of the language. Since it is mostly a spoken course we will not introduce the written style. However the ‘Learn Tamil Script’ programme on our website gives you an indication of the correlation between the two forms.
3. The participants can and should go through the script lessons in the program on ‘Learn Tamil Script’ on our website. No teaching of the script will be done in our programme as it is of a short duration.
4. The course will be focused on intense speech practice. Get a good quality microphone.
5. There will be a sufficient quantity of assignments. Ensure about an hour’s time after each lesson.
